Prints are always in, but this fall ‘Houndstooth’ are the hottest trend. Like monochrome version, color Houndstooth are heartily loved by many designers. You can check out the fall 2013 collections from some of the famous designers like Michael Kors & Tommy Hilfiger.
Even Vogue mentioned here – “A favorite of Audrey Hepburn, eye-catching Houndstooth originated in Scotland with a special weaving technique and is a Fifties classic. Appropriated by legendary designers including Coco Chanel, Christian Dior and Sonia Rykiel – who put this much-loved pattern on show season after season – this monochrome check is on trend once again.”
Many of us may not be aware of this term ‘Houndstooth’, it refers to duo-tone textile pattern characterized by broken checks. They look more or less like dog’s tooth hence the term was coined. Truly speaking, I have grown up watching this pattern since my father was fond of Houndstooth coat but ironically was not aware of this terminology.
The best thing about Houndstooth is the classic pattern which makes it easy to include as formal dressing or as a Friday casual. Houndstooth pieces for fall keeps you look elegant and polished both during a workday or evenings. It goes well with both neutrals and colors. I love the versatility of this pattern which makes it easy to pair up. It’s always a great idea to have at least one piece of Houndstooth in your wardrobe.

If there is something which every women needs to remain warm and stylish in the fall, it’s none other than a ‘Blazer’. It is a staple piece which has never gone out of trend. There are so many blazers in the market, which one to pick? Is it really easy to style them? These are the basic questions which most of the time people have.
Simple mantra to buy a perfect blazer is to get the one which suits your personality and fits well. You may get fascinated by a boyfriend blazer but it may not be perfect for your silhouette. So don’t buy ! Blazers will remain for a very long time with you so selecting them intelligently is the key. Fashion goes and come back but if you know how to style, you will be able to carry well even your oldest blazer.
The major challenge of wearing a blazer is how to keep it looking feminine. So selecting right one for your body type makes it easier and quick to style. If you know few basic tricks of wearing blazer, you can style them without any personal stylist or trainer.
There are a lot of ways to wear blazer. Here are few quick trials I did on my blog to style them.
1. Vintage formal -This style is just perfect for a formal wear. It can be easily paired up with A-line skirt and a formal basic top. You can add a bit of statement by wearing a pair of great heels and by picking a vintage look-alike hand bag. I would not recommend this for interviews but yes they are great for your daily office formal outfit. Detail post here
2. Casual – This style goes well, if you choose a logo based tee and pair it up with boyfriend jeans. Keeping it minimal is the best technique. Just add a colorful tote bag and a bright heels. This is the best and easy to style on the go. Go for shopping or day out it will make you look great and stylish. Detail post here
3. Chic Casual – Blazer can turn up any simple outfit to chic. And, if you try sober colors like mint and coral with a matching ballet flats, it’s an ultimate chic look. You can add some metallic chunky bangles and a simple clutch to add the fun factor. Detail post here
4. Evening – Pick a bright blazer and pair it up with a trouser or a fitted denim jean pants. Wear a statement bracelet and a matching heels. Add a fluorescent clutch to it and a basic tee to convert it to evening look. Detail post here
Blazers are just perfect for your office and daily look, so having at least one blazer is a must in your wardrobe. They will make you look professional and trendy. So get the one which suits your pocket and your style.
Stripes is one of the strongest fashion trend. Be it the horizontal, vertical, monochrome or colored, it has always made a statement. Some people co-relate stripes more to men but it has been equally loved by women too. Some people believe in top-to-toe stripe dress while most people love to combine it with bright colors. Whether you look at Marc Jacobs or Dolce & Gabbana spring/summer 2013 collection, stripes were everywhere on the runway.
There are certain tricks of wearing them, like if you are fat than stripes going around the body will make you look thin although taller women can try wearing vertical stripes. You may have heard, horizontal stripes will make you look fat? Forget it. I guess this rule doesn’t exist any more. Don’t use stripes as an entire outfit rather add stripes in form of tee, shirt or blazer. Monochromatic stripes will help you look lean and simple, so safest is to try them.
I believe if you look and feel good in any outfit then no one has right to make a point. Wear stripes and flaunt with confidence.

Camouflage is definitely not a new trend in the fashion world. It was originated during the First World war when military prints came into existence. Needless to mention, it was the coolest pattern for men but recently designers have customized it for women too. Many designers like Michael Kors, MSGM, Christopher Kane, Valentino, showcased camo print on their design pattern for fall 2013. It is big hit on the runaway.
Camo trend has a lot of scope for experimentation. Wear it with neutral tops, or bright blouse it goes well. I thought of styling it with leather jacket and red ruffle blouse. Persunmall pumps totally gave me a comfortable feet. Many brands are selling camo pants like Gap, Old Navy, Bluenotes, Charlotte Russe etc. Don’t wait, just go and grab one for Fall 2013.
